DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., August 18, 2015 –Volusia County Sheriff Ben F. Johnson will receive the Great Communicator Award presented annually by the Florida Public Relations Association’s Volusia/Flagler Chapter. The award will be given at the organization’s monthly luncheon on August 25 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at LPGA International Clubhouse, 1000 Champions Drive, Daytona Beach.
Johnson, who will also be speaking at the luncheon, is a lifetime resident of Volusia County, and has been with the Volusia County Sheriff’s Department for more than 25 years. He was elected Sheriff in November 2000 and has held that office ever since, winning his rebid for the position in three consecutive election cycles.
Johnson was selected for the Great Communicator Award based on his major accomplishments and contributions to the community, as well as for his ethics and professionalism in his field.
“We are delighted to honor Sheriff Johnson with the 2015 Great Communicator Award,” said Tyler Stover, FPRA Volusia-Flagler Chapter president. “Our sheriff is an exceptional communicator and very deserving of this prestigious award.”
This is the only award that honors lifetime achievements in effective communications in Volusia and Flagler counties.
